General Rules of the RRC


  • Each member or guest is an adult (over 18 years of age) as of the date of membership.

  • Each member or guest has agreed to the General Rules of the RRC.

  • Each member or guest has agreed to the RRC Bylaws.

  • Each member or guest has agreed to the RRC Member Code of Conduct.

  • Each member or guest has agreed to the RRC Liability Waiver.

  • Each member or guest is a current member of USRowing at the Basic or higher level.

  • Each member or guest has agreed to the USRowing Liability Waiver.

  • Each member or guest has agreed to the City of Raleigh Liability Waiver.

  • Each member or guest has watched the US Rowing Safety Video (provided below) annually before participating in any rowing activities.


  • Each new member is a "First Year Member" for 12 months from the date of application. To ensure that an individual has the necessary skills to safely participate in rowing activities, each First Year Member must be approved by an officer of the Board before participating independently, at which point the First Year Member will also be an “Experienced Member.”

  • Only a club member who is a Master rowers may use RRC equipment to take guests rowing. The club member must receive permission from an officer of the Board before taking guests out on the water. Email is acceptable. The club member is also responsible for ensuring that his or her guest completes a Guest Waiver before rowing and is familiar with RRC and safety protocols. Each guest may use RRC equipment twice per calendar year without commitment; continued use of RRC equipment afterwards is prohibited.

  • Each member or guest is aware of their own skill level and use of equipment.

  • Each member or guest must sign out their boat on the calendar and at the Lake Wheeler Park kiosk before rowing.

  • Each member or guest does not use equipment if he/she is unsure if the equipment belongs to RRC.

  • Unless approval is given by an Officer of the Board prior to use of non-RRC owned rowing equipment, each member or guest accepts full liability for any loss or damage that may be incurred during use of non-RRC owned rowing equipment.

  • Each member or guest rows with the traffic pattern.

  • Each member or guest must receive approval from an Officer of the Board prior to removing RRC equipment from the lake.

  • A member or guest that damages equipment must tag it and contact the equipment manager by filling out the Contact Us form and selecting Equipment from the drop down menu.

  • Each returning member must pay membership dues by January 31 of each calendar year. If membership dues are not paid by that date, the returning member may not use RRC equipment or store their private equipment at the lake. Unpaid-for private equipment is subject to removal by the City of Raleigh.

  • The RRC Board of Directors reserves the right to amend the General Rules of the RRC at their discretion and at any time.
