Raleigh Rowing Center was well represented on Saturday, June 3rd, at the Dogwood Masters “Old Dog Classic Regatta” in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
Four of our rowers–Jennifer and Dan Tamburro, Mollie Gaines, and Brayden Quinn–made the trek over the Blue Ridge Mountains, completed their sprints, and brought home some hardware to Lake Wheeler:
- Jennifer Tamburro won gold in her women’s 1x event, covering 1000m in 4:35 and finishing with open water on her nearest opponent.
- Jennifer Tamburro and Mollie Gains won gold in their women’s 2x event with a time of 4:13, raw. (No handicap needed to vanquish the competition.)
- Mollie Gaines and Brayden Quinn took bronze in their mixed 2x event with a hot time of 3:55; and
- Dan Tamburro completed a successful race in his 1x just two months separated from knee surgery. What a recovery! And yes, he rowed 12,000 meters at practice only three days later.
Way to go, RRC!
